In Italy 3 years ago happened something that no one expected. A frightening earthquake occured that striked on the destiny of many people all over the world and totally destroyed the town Pescara del Toronto. Informations about missing people and victims were frightening and unfortunatelly kept rising. No one, however, expected the firefighters to find something that touches everyone.
Firefighters came too late
After the earthquake followed rescuing people and the wounded, cleaning debris, putting out fires and so on. Everyone had a lot of work to do. When firefighters found in front of a damaged house 9 years old girl called Giulila Renaldo, tears burst into their eyes. The girl was unfortunatelly dead and no one could help her anymore. Firefighter’s work is very challenging because they meet a lot of disaster victims, however, if the victim is a child and especially a girl it is a really sad event.
They found another body
Once the firefighters decided to pick up the girl’s body so that they could take it away, something unbelievable happened. Something that no one expected. Under the body of little Giulie lied another body. It was a smaller girl that looked like her sister based on appearance. Yes, a 9 years old Giulia shielded with her own body her little 4 years old sister during an earthquake to save her life.
A goodbye letter
One of the paramedics was so shocked with what they found that she decided to write little Guilia a goodbye letter. This is roughly what it said: “Hello little girl. When I was rescuing the lives of other people you were already lying under the debris of this damaged house. I cannot express how much pain I feel and how sorry I am that we came too late. Altough your hearts aren’t beating anymore, I would like you to know that we did what we could to protect you. You are a big angel that will be always watching over me. We will soon see each other Guilia. We didn’t know each other but remember that I love and admire you. Andrea”.
Emotional letter spread throught the newspapers and internet and touched the hearts of many people from all over the world. Firefighters also made sure that the story of brave Guilia will never be forgotten.
